Self-regulated learners set goals, apply a 'just right' level of effort, use a range of strategies, and reflect on their own progress to ensure they meet their goals. They are confident, independent and well-prepared for university and life in the 21st Century. At the Self-Regulated Learner, helping students discover what they are capable of is at the heart of everything we do.
Self-regulation is the ability to direct our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours effectively and efficiently towards meeting our goals. It involves motivation and focus, the use of the right strategy and amount of effort for the task at hand, monitoring progress towards goals, reflecting on performance, and adapting as needed. A self-regulated approach is crucial for personal development, academic success, and overall well-being.
Our students learn how to use evidenced-based strategies during each phase of their learning; we're big fans of the Desirable Difficulties.
Our students understand how important it is to reflect on their learning and use simple, effective tools and strategies for doing so.
