Whatever their starting point, our study skills tutors help students develop a wide range of effective strategies, the ability to recognise opportunities to apply them, and the motivation needed to do so.
At the Self-Regulated Learner, our students learn to effectively apply evidence-based learning strategies known as the '6 Desirable Difficulties.' These strategies were developed by cognitive behavioural scientists studying how the brain learns, and we have created an entire learning programme that capitalises on this research.
Our students learn short, medium and long-term planning and prioritisation skills which enable them to effectively juggle a demanding workload. Each student is provided a OneNote e-Portfolio which they take with them and can continue to use after they complete the course.
We have divided the writing process into 10 manageable steps that increase students' effectiveness and make writing far less daunting for them. As these steps reflect expert pre-writing, writing, and post-writing skills, the result is sophisticated writing and high achievement.
Our students learn to highlight and annotate with the purpose of their reading in mind. 'Talking to the text' in this way encourages the application of critical thinking skills such as analysis, interpretation, and synthesis and enables students to more easily apply what they read when writing essays and creating notes afterwards.
Many students find it hard to learn in class while simultaneously taking notes, particularly when the pace of instruction is fast and the content being taught is challenging. Our students take charge of their learning through developing a habit of previewing the curriculum.
At the Self-Regulated Learner, our students learn to systematically take stock of their progress and make evidence-based decisions about where to focus their attention and which strategies will lead to the greatest gains in achievement.

We believe that access to more effective study skills should be accessible to everyone. That's why we offer an affordable and flexible On-Demand Study Skills course that, while covering the same topics as our 6-Week Course, each lesson is broken down into very small pieces and recorded so that students can dip in and out of as-needed. Support is offered in an on-going chat that students can also access On-Demand.
